A lot has been reported in the press recently regarding the bingo industry struggling as a result of the anti cigarette law in the UK. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge tax cuts to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. But can the web adaptation of this quintessential game present a salvation, or might it not compare to its land based peer?
Bingo is an age old game normally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game recently had witnessed a recent comeback in acceptance with younger men and women opting to go to the bingo parlors instead of the clubs on a Saturday night. No more will players be permitted to smoke at the same time marking off their numbers. The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already not permitted in the bingo parlours. Players have dropped and the industry is beyond a doubt struggling for its life. But where have all the players gone? Obviously they haven’t forgotten this familiar game?
The answer is on the net. People realise that they can enjoy bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and fag and in the end, have a chance at big cash rewards. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.
Of course gambling on on the net will never replace the communal aspect of going over to the bingo hall, but for a group of people the rules have left many bingo enthusiasts with no choice.
